Oakland Police Officers Recieve Settlement for Uniform Violations

|
A lawsuit brought 3 years ago against the City of Oakland for uniform violations by Oakland police officers was settled recently. The lawsuit alleged that the City of Oakland was violating the law by not paying the more than 500 Oakland officers for time spent putting on their uniforms and other post duty work.

The City of Oakland has huge financial issues so the Plaintiff's attorney handling the lawsuit sought attorneys fees and a mix of pay and vacation time for the officers involved in the lawsuit.

If you are required to wear a uniform for work your employer may be responsible to pay for these uniforms and the cost of maintaining them. In addition, you may work in an industry or profession where the law would require compensation for the time spent putting on employer required uniforms.
